The Most Prestige Category
MM2H Platinum Category
The only category that permits business, investment and employment in Malaysia.
Financial Requirements
Fixed Deposit (FD) of USD 1,000,000 in any Malaysian financial institution licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 758] or Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 759].
Maximum withdrawal of 50% is allowed on the principal FD value after the approval as an MM2H participant has been obtained for the purposes of purchasing a residence, education, medical and tourism activities in Malaysia.
Participating Fee (One-Off)
A participating fee of MYR 200,000 for every principal application (one-off).
No participating fees for dependents.
Purchase of Residence
Compulsory to purchase and own a residence after obtaining the approval as an MM2H participant. The value of the purchased residence should be MYR 2,000,000 or above.
Selling of the residence is not allowed for 10 years. However, the house can be upgraded (buying of a new residence) to a residence of higher value from the current property. Failure to comply with any of the terms will result in the MM2H pass to be revoked.
Minimum Length of Stay
Be present / staying in Malaysia for 90 days (cumulative) in one year.
For participants between the age of 21 to 49 years old, the length of stay in Malaysia can be fulfilled by the principal and/or their dependents.
Dependents
Participant is allowed to bring dependents as follows:
- spouse (wife/husband);
- biological children/stepchildren/adopted children below the age of 21 while those between the age of 21 to 34, must be unemployed and single while in Malaysia;
- medically certified children with disabilities (no age limit); and
- parents and/or parents in law; and
- foreign maid.
MM2H Pass
MM2H Pass for a period of 20 years with Multiple Entry Visa (MEV), for principal and dependents. Renewable.
The validity of the pass will depend on the validity of the participant's passport. If the passport expires before the end of the MM2H pass, the participant is required to renew the pass.
Renewal
The fee for renewal pass is MYR 5,000 for principal and dependents.
General renewal terms and the documents required are the same for all four categories - see below.
Business / Investment / Employment
Permissible. Platinum is the only category in which the principal may carry out business or investment activities and take up employment in Malaysia.
The Long Term Residency Category
MM2H Gold Category
A 15-year pass with a mid-tier deposit, for families settling long term.
Financial Requirements
Fixed Deposit (FD) of USD 500,000 in any Malaysian financial institution licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 758] or Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 759].
Maximum withdrawal of 50% is allowed on the principal FD value after the approval as MM2H participant has been obtained for the purposes of purchasing a residence, education, medical and tourism activities in Malaysia.
Participating Fee (One-Off)
A participating fee of MYR 3,000 for every principal application (one-off).
No participating fees for dependents.
Purchase of Residence

Not allowed. Business, investment activities and employment in Malaysia are not permitted under this category.
The Most Popular Category
MM2H Silver Category
The lowest entry point outside the special zones, and the most taken up.
Financial Requirements
Fixed Deposit (FD) of USD 150,000 in any Malaysian financial institution licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 758] or Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 759].
Maximum withdrawal of 50% is allowed on the principal FD value after the approval as an MM2H participant has been obtained for the purposes of purchasing a residence, education, medical and tourism activities in Malaysia.
Participating Fee (One-Off)
A participating fee of MYR 1,000 for every principal application (one-off).
No participating fees for dependents.
Purchase of Residence
Compulsory to purchase and own a residence after obtaining the approval as an MM2H participant. The value of the purchased residence should be MYR 600,000 or above.
Selling of the residence is not allowed for 10 years. However, the house can be upgraded (buying of a new residence) to a residence of higher value from the current property. Failure to comply with any of the terms will result in the MM2H pass to be revoked.

The fee for renewal pass is MYR 1,500 for principal and dependents.

Not allowed. Business, investment activities and employment in Malaysia are not permitted under this category.
Special Category for Forest City
MM2H Special Economic Zone Category
Forest City, Johor only. The lowest deposit of the four, split by age band.
Financial Requirements
Eligible participants must have a Fixed Deposit (FD) in any Malaysian financial institution licensed under the Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 758] or Islamic Financial Services Act 2013 [Act 759] as follows: USD 65,000 for ages 21 to 49, and USD 32,000 for ages 50 and above.
Maximum withdrawal of 50% is allowed on the principal FD value after the approval as an MM2H participant has been obtained for the purposes of purchasing a residence, education, medical and tourism activities in Malaysia.
Participating Fee (One-Off)
A participating fee of MYR 1,000 for every principal application (one-off).
No participating fees for dependents.
Purchase of Residence
Compulsory to purchase and own a property/house (floor price subject to Johor state property acquisition policy) after obtaining approval as an MM2H participant.
Selling of the residence is not allowed for 10 years. However, the house can be upgraded (buying of a new residence) to a residence of higher value from the current property. Failure to comply with any of the terms will result in the MM2H pass to be revoked.
Minimum Length of Stay
Be present / staying in Malaysia for 90 days (cumulative) in one year.
For participants between the age of 21 to 49 years old, the length of stay in Malaysia can be fulfilled by the principal and/or their dependents.

MM2H Pass
MM2H Pass for a period of 10 years with Multiple Entry Visa (MEV), for principal and dependents. Renewable.
The validity of the pass will depend on the validity of the participant's passport. If the passport expires before the end of the MM2H pass, the participant is required to renew the pass.
Renewal
The fee for renewal pass is MYR 300 for principal and dependents.
General renewal terms and the documents required are the same for all four categories - see below.
Business / Investment / Employment
Not allowed. Business, investment activities and employment in Malaysia are not permitted under this category.
Applies to All Four Categories
These terms are identical across Platinum, Gold, Silver and SEZ/SFZ. Only the renewal fee differs by category.Education
Dependents (children) are allowed to pursue their education up to tertiary level in any Government recognised higher learning institutions in Malaysia. Dependents (children) are allowed to use the existing MM2H or be given a Student Pass automatically.
Medical Treatment
Long term medical treatment is allowed in Malaysia.
Medical Check-Up
Compulsory to undergo medical check-up in a panel clinic / hospital appointed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture for the principal and their dependents after receiving the approval to participate in the MM2H Programme.
Taxation
Tax exemption on incoming funds (into Malaysia) such as Fixed Deposit.
Change of Principal
In the event of death of the principal, the MM2H Pass of the deceased is transferable to the next-of-kin among the registered dependents.
Terms of Renewal of MM2H Pass
The pass can be renewed for every 5 years after the maximum years of the programme has been completed. Applicants will need to produce a copy of a valid passport, a copy of the latest medical report and health insurance. Application for renewal needs to be submitted to the One Stop Centre, MM2H. The renewal fee differs by category - see the Renewal Fee row in the comparison table above.
